Set among the precipitous, narrow valley at the foot of the Steinernes Meer, a stones throw from Saalfelden, Golf Club Gut Brandlhof is packed with Austrian character. The closeness of the steep slopes creates a fabulous alpine atmosphere, while the river Saalach, which gurgles its happy way around most of the course, induces a wonderful sense of tranquillity. However, before you let yourself get too relaxed, you’ll need to keep your tee shot straight to avoid the woods that line most fairways and make the right choice of club to reach the well defended greens. No man-made water hazards at Gut Brandlhof, just the alpine river and picturesque mountain lakes adding to a challenging round. The imposing clubhouse offers a taste of Austrian golf hospitality and a chance to unwind amid the fabulous scenery.

 STC Golf Team’s verdict: “You know you’re in the Alps at Brandlhof. The mountains are ever present around a course in great condition. Signature hole, the long par five twelfth is three good shots to reach, the last round an intruding buttress of rock with a river thrown in for good measure. Great fun!”
